i am currently learning sap. i have installed sapgui 6.20 in my home pc for practice. my pc has net connectivity. during sap log on it seems that i need to have an application server. so is it possible for me to use sapgui 6.20 without any such application server? or do i need to download any other versions..

Take a look at minisap & install it on your home pc.

No you definately need the application without which you cannot use SAP system. Only GUI wouldnt work
