Is it possible to use ADS as a Conversion server from DMS?
Thanks,
YK
I should think you would be able to build a conversion server using for any supported mime type.
The conversions occur external to SAP. If you look at the sample RFC programs like "word_to_pdf". It shows one method using MS word and Adobe distiller.
The caveat with these is that illegal characters in file names can cause issues.
The process here is an rfc client resides on the conversion server, and an rfc connection is invoked by the ERP DMS system. The files are written to a temp folder as a part of the RFC connection. I believe the actual dat transfer occurs using SAPHTTP or SAPFTP so the gui will likely need to be installed on the conversion server. Files are then converted to the new file format, checked into dms, and then the temp folders are cleaned up if all went well.
Most of the conversion processing logic will need to be your own from what I have seen.
