hi,

I'd suggest to get yourself a good book on distributed architectures and snoop into the basics on one or another rainy afternoon.

Two quick finds on google are this:

[Compares CORBA & Webservices and says something about tight coupling|http://www2002.org/CDROM/alternate/395/]

[DCOM vs. CORBA says something about distributed architectures|http://research.microsoft.com/~ymwang/papers/HTML/DCOMnCORBA/S.html]

you might find that both papers are rather old but feature established knowhow.
