Hi Sam,

- To incorporate the scenario where you are withdrawing some physical samples from the inception lot quantity and performing the inspection over

- The samples consumption quantity is required to be known in well segregated manner of Physical Samples, Pooled Samples and Retain samples.

- E.g. if you are receiving a consignment of 100Kg, in 10 Containers.

Now you will sample the 1g from each container (This will be your primary physical samples, that will be 10 in numbers and will have 1g each. ), now you will club these 10 samples and make 5g of 2Nos each (11111=5g from first 5 containers and 11111=5g from last five containers, this two will be your pooled physical samples and will be in 2 in numbers and 5g each will be sample size). Now if you are consuming the3g only and the rest 7g you preserves as retain samples (this retain sample will be your Retain physical sample, will have 7g in 1 nos)

Thus the total number of sample will be 13 (10 primary + 2 Pooled + 1 Retain). And system will generate a Physical Sample number for each of them. And result will also recorded against these sample number as system will manage the inspection point for them Base on Physical Sample.

This example is a actual scenario of inspection of incoming Raw Material for so many Pharmaceutical industries.

Hi Sam,

As per my belief, the Physical sample quantity not getting incorporated in the Inspection lot quantity.

See what system does is........

When the lot get generated, it will search the setting maintained in the Sample drawing procedure (QP02) to generated the physical Samples. And generate the samples according to it. While calculating the sample size for each physical sample it refers the Sampling procedure (QDV2).

Now to check my words, and clear your understandings what I'll suggest is to watch the results recorded for this kind of any result, to do it Go to QA13, display UD Screen. Click on the Physical Tab. Here you will see the characteristic results is recorded against Physical sample, in well segregated manner.

As a conclusion the Physical Sample number don't interfere the Lot quantity.

Shyamal
