Minumum Reasonable Disk Space Requirements for NW 7.0 AS Java

Hello,

Our server team is requsting that we reasonably challenge the SAP recommendation which we received from our consultant on the minimum space requirements for NW 7.0 AS Java of 160Gb.

This initial install is just for prototyping and would not experience significant use or growth. It's primary use would be for xMII on a short term basis to recipe an initial build.

Thank you for your help.

Hi John,

to give you an idea: we have a WAS Java 7 with portal and we have heavily developed, deployed and configured for one year. The /usr/sap and /sapmnt take 14 GB and the oracle database has 20 GB (archive files are moved regularly). Its a Suse Enterprise 10 server.

The space you need depends not only on the system and the database but also if you need or want space for dvd images, transport-directories, file backups

Hope this helps. Regards,

Norbert

Thank you for the prompt reply. I did the math from the Install Guide and came up with 50gb as a comfortable amount of space - including the installation files. So I think your practical experience really helps raise the confidence in the estimate. Thank you.
