WHAT IS CONDITION INDEX & CONDITION UPDATE?
Hello,
the flags condition index and conditioin update will be set in the maintainance of the condtion type (trasnaction V/06).
_condition index
Specifies whether the system updates one or more condition indices when maintaining condition records.
This makes it possible to list or maintain condition records indepently of condition type and condition table, for example.
For source determination for services, service conditions for the vendor are taken into consideration in the same way as info records, if the flag Condition Index is set for condition type Total Price (PRS).
Condition update
Controls whether limit values are relevant for pricing.
E.g.: you can make the use of a particular condition record in the document dependent on a specified total value.
This total value can be specified in the condition record.
'The relevant infostructure is S071.

I hope that the information are helpful.
regards
Claudia

It becomes easier to search for condition records with the help of "Condition index", like it becomes easier to search a particular topic in the book with help of INDEX.
But the condition index must be activated for the condition type before seaching.
"Condition update" is mostly used while launching a new product ,especially while giving introductory bonus offer/discount.
Here we set a maximum limit in "Condition Base Value"or "Condition Value" or in "Number of Orders".
Once the limit is exceeded, the discount gets deactivated
automatically.
For example, I want to give 20% Material discount(K004) on the first 2 orders placed by the customer. Here maximum limit is 2 orders that means you have set in "number of orders".
So system will give discount of 20% in the first 2 orders and from the 3rd order onwards it will be automatically deactivated and no discount will be given. Here Quantiy (Base value) or Value (condition value) are not the criteria.
Similarly you can set the limit in 'Condition Base Value" or in "Condition Value".
Beside this, to make it functioning, you have to activate the "Condition Update" field in the condition type (e.g K004).
