Hi
We are in the process of migrating to MaxDB. As part of this I'm testing recovery procedures. Last night I simulated a lost LOGFILE by deleting it.
When I start the database RECOVERY I get an error that it can't open the LOGFILE. So obviously I can't use the RECOVERY tool to perform a database recovery in this scenario.
Can anyone help me with the steps to recover the database from this scenario (ie lost LOGFILE)??
In fact, if anyone has some documentation about recovery procedures (both from the GUI and DBMCLI) would be great.. please not links to the online help..
Thanks in advance.
Doug
Hello Doug,
when the log volume does not exist anymore or is corrupted, you need to initialize the database. During this procedure you can restore the needed backups. In DBMGUI choose "Recovery with Initialization".
You can also use the same procedure as for a homogeneous system copy as described in SAP note #129352.
Regards,
Melanie
