Hi,
I am facing a strange problem while deploying webdynpro appications from NWDS.
I have pointed my nwds to deploy in the server Xyz127.xyc.local port 3902
When i try to deploy or run a webdynpro application , it tries to deploy in a different server ip xxx.xx.xx.xxx which i cannot ping from my desktop.
Please advise.
Cheers

I am able to ping xyz127.xyz.local but not xyz127
which was possible earlier when i was at client's place.

Hi,
When i was at client's place and using their network directly , i was able to ping xyz127.
But now i use VPN to connect to client network. Now i am not able to ping xyz127.
So i have to use xyz127.xyz.local to see the J2ee Engine Up and running in the J2ee Engine View

While on VPN, are you able to ping xyz127?
if not, in your system, edit the host file and add an entry
<ip address of xyz127> xyz127
hope you are connecting to the same VPN itself; Other n/w like local LAN or the like can't be accessible during one VPN session is up.

Hi,
i am able to ping xyz127.xyz.loczl..So i feel there is no meaning in putting that in host file.
And the J2ee engine showing in the j2ee view is xyz127.xyz.loczl and is up and running..
but when i try to deply it in that server, it tries to deploy in some other server which i havent mentioned anywhere in NWDS.
I am using a VPN to connect to my customer network. Will there be any problem of Firewall

Hi,
May be your server name "Xyz127.xyc.local" refers to some other IP.
try to use full name of the server or give the IP of the server in J2EE engine parameters.
try to ping with full server name and check which IP its pinging to.
give the IP and Name in windows->system32->drivers->etc->HOSTS file.
do all above points, you can solve your problem.

Pradeep

enter <ip address> Xyz127.xyc.local entry in %System32%\Drivers\etc\hosts file. And try to ping using name itself.

Hi,
Make sure that the J2EE engine is what the server you want to deploy.
in Window> Preferences>J2EE engine
