Hi team

we are working in ECC6 on windows 2003 with oracle

10.

I want to clarify a thing that once we want to shut down

the server ..we do as All Tasks--> stop .after this can we

shut down the server or do we need to shutdown the

database through Brtools. I have been told by a team

member that its a good practice that once we stop the tasks through MMC console ...we need to shut down the database Brtools.else it some what effect the system .

how far is this correct ..plz reply.

Hi,

There is no harm in leaving the database running . It depends on the senario . If you have a test installation,

and you have several other applications running on your system, its better to stop the DB instance, to free resources . its left to you to decide what suits you best .

All tasks stop in MMC , does not bring down the database , unless its an MSSQL Db .

isn't there a stopdb script within \sapmnt\<your SID>\exe??

and: what do you mean by "stopping all tasks"? stopping oracle services? i'd rather stop the database FIRST (using the script or sqlplus) and stop any oracle services afterwards....

I mean to say is it neccessary for us to shut down

the database everytime when we shutdown the server?

is it not ok if we stop the console root by alltasks--.stop.
