Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders. An RFID tag is a small object that can be attached to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person. RFID tags contain silicon chips and antennas to enable them to receive and respond to radio-frequency queries from an RFID transceiver. Passive tags require no internal power source, whereas active tags require a power source.

The SAP software which implement the data-administration (an much more) of RFID is called AII (Auto-Id-Infrastructur).

SAP AII 4.0 is currently in Ramp-Up. If you have access to SAP Service Marketplace, you can obtain detailed information on AII 4.0 technical landscape, supported functions and features under the following links -

At its most basic level, Radio Frequency Identification ( RFID ) is a wireless link to uniquely identify objects or people. RFID is a means of capturing data about an object without using a human to read the data. The object of any RFID system is to carry data in suitable transponders, generally known as tags, and to retrieve data, by machine-readable means, at a suitable time and place to satisfy particular application needs. Data within a tag may provide identification for an item in manufacture, goods in transit, a location, the identity of a vehicle, an animal or individual.

hello,

The basic working of RFID was explained in the previous reply ...

The Auto-ID Part of SAP acts as a middleware which gets high volume of real-time inputs from the reader and passes on only the required(analysed and intelligent) data to the data warehouse for use..

In case of material handling in industries this RFID concept is implemented with sap for automatic alert's as per the requirement..

The below message in forum has the documentation..

If u want all related details this site will help u out , u need to sign up before using some of the links...
