Oracle upgrade in the application server

Hi all,

I am doing oracle upgrade from 9.2 to 10.2.

I have just 7 months experience in BASIS.

I have done the oracle upgrade in the central instance(database).

Now that i got an application server, i am stuck up of how to upgrade the application server.

I downloaded the oracle 10.2 software and the patches from the service marketplace and it only contained "sapserver.cmd" with which i installed the oracle software

.

The downloaded stuff did not have sapclient.cmd.

We are only SAP 4.7(Kernel 640).

I have done in the central instance and do know how to proceed with the application server.

Thanks,

siddhartha

Dear Kaushal,

I shall try it with the following setup

1)I have upgraded the central instance to oracle 10.2.0.2.

2)Having oracle 9.2 client in the application server(dialog instance)

will upgrade as in the note 998004.

regards,

siddhartha.

Hi,

why are you confuse?

if you upgrade your oracle on central instance then after stop the application server and proceed as described in note 998004 and upgrade the client.

Hi,

If you upgrade the oracle from 9.2 to 10.2 on central instance then you need to upgrade the oracle client on application server also ( dialog instance).

the method is described in note to upgrade client on application server.

i have the latest 10.2 instant client patch but not the installable..

Copy the latest Oracle Instant Client from SAP Service Marketplace.

It is available at http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Download -> Database Patches (from other vendors) -> Oracle -> Oracle 32/64 Bit -> Oracle 10.2.0 -> Oracle Instant Client 10.2.0.* -> NT_<Platform>

The archive is named OCL102<32 64>.sar.

and extract the file using sapcar -xvf filename.sar
