Hi Experts,

I need some useful suggestion from your end for my career.

I have worked on MDM for about 1 year in a support project.

But I want to excel my MDM skill more and more .Now I have to choose another options EXCEPT MDM. So which module will be the best to choose.

BI,XI,EP,BW diff. Netweaver modules are there. But which module will be most suitable for me as I want to utilise my MDM skill always and want to mainly focus on it.

Many people said that MDM is hot module and really good as it is new. But still it is rare in market and very few industries are using this tech.So If I want to stuck with this then my discission will be right or wrong?

Need your suggesyion in this regards.

Hello Shalini,

In the current market MDM is considered as the most valuable skill. U shd opt for it and U can also learn the integration of MDM with other prdts like BI,XI,Portal etc.

As MDM can be integrated with above and other third party tools so in this tech. u can also learn others.

Hi Shalini,

Yes Shalini, your decision is absolutely perfect because besides MDM, you must know the integration of MDM with either R/3 or with XI, or with BI. It will add an advantage for you.

But it will be difficult to suggest that which module is good than other because every module has its own value.

What you can do is that you will have to decide whether you are interested in coding or you want only technical area. On this basis, you can choose accordingly like

BI has REPORTING DATA LOADING, EXTRACTION, MODELLING . It is having huge openings in the market.

So, ABAP + BI is preferrable as BI has overall ABAP touch.

If you are interested in coding whether it is ABAP coding or JAVA coding, then you can very well choose ERP or Portal(EP). Portal includes J2EE concepts.

XI is used for communication beteween individual systems and is purely a middleware function.

BW is used for sales analysis.

Hello Shalini,

This is altogether a good idea to learn abt the technologies which MDM 'talks' with!

I think you would be aware of the Business Objects tools.Now a days,am refering to the some documents/blogs related to this from SAP / non-SAP sources. I 'd like to shere some of them for benefit of all.

To introduce this intresting filed to you i suggest you to read the road map released by SAP.

There you can see how different technologies stretagically merge with each other over a period of time.

Hi Shalini,

It is a known truth that MDM is the hot topic and most valuable platform in the market.

Also becoming an MDM consultant is not an easy task. MDM Consultant should not only be technically strong but should have a wider view for the Business for which he/she is working for.

MDM Consultant should not only know the components of MDM but should try to wider there view for all the different platforms that are used with MDM such as Net weaver , XI, Tipco , ABAP etc. Having the knowledge of all these platforms would not only enhance the knowledge of an MDM Consultant but also provides the Consultant an upper hand among his/her colleagues in their company.

This would not only enhance your learning but would also help you in understanding various platforms used with MDM and also increase your efficiency and effectiveness.
