Hi
Galaxy is the code name for new BPM development happening within SAP. Galaxy is SAP's long-term approach for business process modeling and runtime targeting human-centric, system-centric, and ad-hoc workflows. If you attended TechEd 2007, there was a demo in the key note, SDN clubhouse sessions on the topic, as well as session EPI103. You will see more information, including FAQ's, in a few more weeks.
Major Advantages:
Galaxy will provide a standards-based model-to-code solution based on BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation) in Eclipse.
It will include capabilities for human-centric and system-centric processes.
It will include a business rules engine.
Implementation Considerations:
It is a new tool, still in development. Ramp up is planned for the second half of 2008.
It will be delivered with SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment.
*Example business scenarios: *
Processes where there is a white-space; a place where you want to extend or enhance the SAP process.
Processes that include both SAP and non-SAP service calls.
check this link:
Galaxy would come with a New Rules Engine ( This would be an integrated Rule engine using YASU ( SAP has acquired this rules engine, completely on the JAVA stack) )
Another point would be that Galaxy would mainly be on the JAVA stack, and would not leverage the ABAP stack
Performance would be better.
In would be used heavily in the composition environment.
Hope this is useful
Thanks
