hai gurus,
Is there any difference between the configuration of delivering plant and the manufacturing plant.if we assign a plant to only company code is it called as a manufacturing plant? how can DEPO be configured ?and any difference between depo and delivering plant configurations?
points will be rewarded.
thanks in advance,
balu.
Dear balu
The main difference between delivering plant and a Depot is that Delivering Plant can be a manufacturing plant but Depot cannot be a manufacturing plant.
Activities of Depot is to receive materials from manufacturing plant and sell it to customers as it is without making any additional rework. Even if any slight change in packing takes place in Depot, then you should declare the depot as manufacturing plant as for as Central Excise Rules is concerned.
thanks

Hi Bala
Definition of plant is different for different module. Plant is an organisational unit, (ofcourse Storage location also) Which is used in all area of Logistic.
For PP, Plant is a Manufacturing facility where finished/semi-finished goods are produced.
For MM, Plant is storage facility, where procured raw material are stored for futher processing and ofcourse other stocks like finished goods etc.
But for SD, Plant is a "Distribution Centre" where revant stocks are kept. Anything fits into this definition that is a Plant in SD.
Normally, in SD we deliver (our goods goes out, whereas for MM there goods comes in), that is why Plant in SD is called as a Delivering plant.

Hi bala,
A manufacturing plant is where stocks of a material are kept and is assigned to a company code.
If a plant is assigned to the Sales Organization and Dist Channel, it is called Delivering Plant. Basically without this assignment, you cannot make any deliveries.
The system copies the plant data into the sales order from the relevant entries in the master records based upon the following priorities:
1. Customer material information master record
2. Customer master record
3. Material master record
The plant data is coming into sales order because of assignment of plant to Sales Organization and Dist Channel.
In SAP, Depot is also created as a plant. In Indian environment in CIN for Plant setting, we tick the check box to identify plant as a Depot.
To transfer Material from Plant to Depot (Stock Transfer):

To sell from Depot:

Reward points if helpful,
Thanks,
Raja
