SLD Architecture for Netweaver Landscape

Hello,

We are doing a Netweaver implementation involving BW-SEM, Enterprise Portal & XI. For XI, SLD is anyways mandatory.

Whether an SLD is required for EP. If yes, then what is the recommended architecture for SLD for the entire landscape?

Also, should we have a separate landscape for DEV/TST & PRD or one single SLD. Should it be hosted on a separate machine or on any of the servers hosting these components.

Regards,

Manas

Hello Manas,

I have not implemented a SLD for our production system but I would suggest this Landscape:

- One SLD für Dev/Tst on the Web AS Java of the Dev Portal

- One SLD für PRD on the Web AS Java of the PRD Portal

EP needs the SLD only if you want to run WebDynpro.

Thanks Gregor. We are planning to use WebDynpro in EP.

So, should it be one SLD both for XI and EP on DEV/TST and another SLD for XI & EP on PRD.

In case of separate SLDs for DEV/TST & PRD, what all will need to be synced in from DEV/TST to PRD and how? Will it be just Export/Import?

Yes that's correct, one SLD for both.

Yes you can export/import to move the data but there is an issue when doing an export. We were on SP11 and if we had a custom SC defined and did a differential export we picked up the SC but not its dependencies. For some reason that only came through on a full export.

Hi,

Got a question....

We have ECC 5.0 (ABAP System) and XI 3.0 with SLD active. Also got portal 6.0 and if we need to use web dynpro from portal with ECC, what process to be done in ECC,Portal and if anything in XI ?

Thanks

Aravind,

As this is a new question you should create a new topic.
