Hi,

Generally, you use IM movements. Via these are goods movements in IM realized.

You can use these movements e.g. to receive goods against PO, PrdOrd. You can do PGI (against Delivery, consumption against cost center, etc), you can modify your stock levels (inventory bookings), etc.

These movements may have financial consequences (e.g. GI, GR).

You don't have to use WM, it is an option. But IM is not an option, you cannot use WM w/o IM.

Via WM movements you can realize goods movement within your WH. For example material staging for PrdOrd, putaway into bins, putaway for deliveries, etc.

These movements have no financial consequences.

Sometimes there's connection between IM & WM movement types (they are linked) - if you receive goods in your WH or goods leave your WH (GI for delivery, consumption, etc).

E.g. You do picking for deliveries via WM-mvt 601 (from normal bin to interim storage bin within your WH ) after that you do PGI for the delivery via IM-mvt 601

But e.g. you move goods from one storage bin to another (WM-mvt 999), it has no counterpart in IM since at SLoc level (in IM) nothing happens.

I think that you have had your question answered so if you are happy with this can you please award points if you want to but mainly can you please mark your question as answered so that it is easier to navigate around the open questions in the forum as the number of pages are growing and growing and it takes too long to go through everything expecially if a satisfactory answer has already been given and people like me who want to help will give up and so some people may not get any help.

Thanks for this

Basically the decisions are made at IM level and WM is then used to move the stock as IM has instructed.

Therefore for instance in IM to change the status of a material you must be precise with the mvt type such as 321, 322, 343, 344, 349 or 350. Once this decision has been made then in WM you can have a generic movement type (309) for all of them and the transaction will work.

One example will be that if ypou have 10 mpallets of stock the same and ypou want to block one pallet then in IM you will use movement type 343. This has made the decision as to what status to move from and to so in WM 309 will work and the TO is created to specify WHICH of the 10 pallets to be blocked.

im movement type not only increase the stock but also responsible for the value updation(movement type 101 with quantity and value updataion)

wm movement type dose not paly any role in value updation it si only resposible for the quantity increse or reduce in certain storage type

for example in wm 101 it post the goods to the interim storage type 902 ther by creating a quant in there

if you see the details of the wm movment type then you can get interim storage type written there
