Hi Team,
Here i am to install ecc 6.0.My hard disk size is 350GB and Ram 8GB.OS: Windows 2003 server.
Can soe one give me idea about how virtual memeory is calculated. In books they say some mathematical caluclation. Can some one please explain this.
Hi shahi just wanted to add little info
As i was setting the swap to 20gb & installing for ECC 6.0 on Win with ORC
During installation i get a warning to go with 20.5 GB SWAP is recommended & for safer side go with 22 GB
Pls add if they are any more considerations

Hi
It depends on the 32 or 64 bit of the kernel type.
Accordingly the VM the estimation should be the
three times of the ram + one time of he physical ram.

Myne is 64 bit Windows 2003 server.Intially for individual drives it is showing 2046 as intial size. for having 8gb ram and 350gb hard disk as per sap standards how much max can i provide near the virtual memeory.
for ex ( 3 * 8 + 2046 ) MB = ( 24 + 2046 ) = 2070 MB.
Please show the calculation approxiamteley for me.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Kuashal,
I have checked the SAP note number.in addition to that i want to add one more question. Can i change the virtual memeory of the server after 1 or 2 months after the installation, if the situation demanded.Approximatley if u give some example regarding the caluclation of virtual memory that willbe really vey helpful.
Thanks in advance.
Virtual memory should be RAM * 4 or maximum of 20 GB.
Right click on My Computer -> Properties -> Under "Advanced" tab -> Performance Setting -> Advance ->change ->choose Custom Size. Here you mention the initial and maximum size
Cheers
Shaji

Hi,
Swap on NT required generally three times of RAM.
if you are using 64 bit kernel then check Note 153641 - Swap space requirement for R/3 64-bit kernel
