The transportation planning point is the central point within the company that plans, processes, and monitors shipments. It can be a location or a group of people responsible for processing.

Each shipment is created and processed by a single transportation planning point.

You can freely define the transportation planning points to meet your corporate requirements, for example, in terms of the location or the mode of transport.

The transportation planning point is defined for a specific company code in Customizing.

This assignment of the planning point to the company code is important for shipment cost calculation and settlement.

Where do we assign transportation planning point to company code. I went through all the nodes in img > Enterprise structure > Assignment but can't see one?

Go to IMG -> Enterprise structure -> Definition -> Logistics Execution -> Maintain transportation planning point.

Here you maintain transportation planning point and assign it to company code.

You can now carry out transportation planning and shipment completion using a new organizational unit, the transportation planning point. Basically, the transportation planning point consists of a group of employees responsible for organizing transportation activities. Each shipment is assigned to a specific transportation planning point for transportation planning and shipment completion. You must define the various transportation planning points used in your organization in Customizing for Corporate Structure before they can be used to perform transportation functions. You can define this organizational unit according to your companyu2019s needs, for example, according to geographical location or mode of transport.

The transportation planning point is assigned to a company code, but is otherwise independent of other organizational units.
