You might not choose an alternate J2EE platform if, for instance, you already had one installed and you did NOT like it's production environment, features, ide, support, etc. Or maybe you do not have an alternate J2EE platform, and since you are presumably an SAP customer, I've read on this board, that you can use SAP's J2EE platform for no additional fee. Also, you might not choose an alternate J2EE platform if, some day, you thought you might want to develop in BSP, iView, WebDynpro, etc, and you also would like a single IDE (in other words, you would need Eclipse with SAP's plug-ins to handle the SAP specific development efforts, plus some other IDE to handle your J2EE development efforts). I guess the "other IDE" could be just more plugins for Eclipse, in which case, this point would be less important. You might choose SAP's platform if you want to get better responses on this board, although I wouldn't hold my breath either way
