Hi,
during installation process via SAPinst in phase 21 the following errors occur alternating (WinXP, 1GB RAM, virt.memory 2048-3072, J2SE SDK version 1.4.2_10 😞
1. try:
CJS-30105 Instance NSP/DVEBMGS00 reached state UNKNOWN after having state STARTING. Giving up.
2. try:
CJS-30149 ABAP processes of instance NSP/DVEBMGS00 [ABAP: UNKNOWN) did not start ofter 10:00 minutes. Giving up.
I think all system requirements are met apart from J2SE SDK verion 1.4.2_10 instead of 1.4.2_08.
Any help will be greatly appriciated.
Regards,
Konrad
Late but still applicable - also make sure in ORACLE that the service for Listener is running - if not start it up and retry the install.

After long hours of analysing all kinds of log-files it works:
For others who might have similar problems, here the solution which works for my environment:
1.) Adjustment environment variables for user used for installation and user nspadm:
- DBMS_TYPE ada
- PATH C:\sapdb\programs\pgm;C:\sapdb\programs\bin;
C:\sapdb\programs\env;C:\sapdb\programs\lib;
C:\usr\sap\NSP\SYS\exe\nuc\NTI386;
C:\sapdb\NSP\db\bin;
C:\usr\sap\NSP\DVEBMGS00\exe
- SAPEXE C:\usr\sap\NSP\SYS\exe\nuc\NTI386
- SAPLOCALHOST <hostname>
- SAPSYSTEMNAME NSP
2.) Installation of MaxDB Database manager (DBM76.exe, included in Sneak Preview folder): C:\..\SAPNW2004sSneakPreviewABAP\MaxDB_7.6.0_RDBMS_Installations\ MAXDB_WINDOWS_I386\SETUPS
3.) Manual start of DB-Instance NSP via MaxDB Database manager
4.) Restart SAPinst (continue old installation)
5.) Installation ended sucessfully (u00E4chz..)

Hello Yojana,
sorry, but I do not know an alternative installation procedure. What I did not mention is that I also deinstalled J2SE SDK version 1.4.2_10 and installed version 1.4.2_08.
For SAPLOCALHOST you must use your computername without using '<>' (and without any @ etc.).
Maybe that could help. Good luck.
Rgds,
Konrad
hi Konard,

Try to start the engine manually using the SAP MMC, then continue the installation where it left off.

Dear Rich,
you're right, more memory didn't help. Installation stops with the same error.
When I start all tasks via SAPMMC the process "disp+work.exe (dispatcher)" gets status "running" first but stops after a minute with the following messages:
