Problem with listener [Multiple installation on same host]

Dear All,

We are installing ECC6 IDES on same server which has a demo EP system.

We went through Note 98252 - Installing two Oracle databases on a host. But this was meant for Unix systems.

We receive following errors when tried to install IDES:

WARNING 2008-07-07 15:03:07

Execution of the command "E:\oracle\IDS\102\bin\lsnrctl start LISTENER" finished with return code 1. Output:

INFO 2008-07-07 15:01:43

Output of E:\oracle\IDS\102\bin\lsnrctl start LISTENER is written to the logfile lsnrctl.log.

ERROR 2008-07-07 15:03:07

CJS-00095 Error return code.<br>DIAGNOSIS: Return code 1 of executable E:\oracle\IDS\102/bin/lsnrctl indicates an error.<br>SOLUTION: See log file lsnrctl.log for details.

The oracle listener services for both EP and IDES fails to come up on our windows machine when we try manually too.

C:\Documents and Settings\epdadm>lsnrctl start

LSNRCTL for 32-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.2.0 - Production on 07-JUL-2008 17:09:49

Starting tnslsnr: please wait...

Failed to start service, error 1058.

TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

TNS-00530: Protocol adapter error

Any ideas please.

regards, Sean.

Hello Sean,

Check listener.ora for both of your listeners, they should come alive on different ports.

Normally while installing a 2nd database, the system should automatically adjusts this, however its worth checking.

Hi

Check the file tnsnames.ora.

And follow the note...there would be changes in the path only. Other things would be same.
