Hi Tom.

Thank you for your reply.

I raised an OSS message and they have replied me stating the same

to set the virtual host name.

AIX :

Export SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME= < VIRTUAL HOST NAME>

when running your sapinst

It is working fine.

I have rewarded the point.

Thanks and Regards

Dear

1 If the TREX runs on one server, download update file, unpack, run sapinst, fill in info if asked, click next, click finish

2 YES

Procedure is very straight forward in most cases. If your TREX installation is distributed amongst several servers you might have to do some additional steps.

If the TREX runs on one server, you don't even have to stop it.

Hi Tom,

We have started applying the TREX patch application.

I have fed all the required the information in the Inst., screen.

But the issue is whene we have selected the \usr\sap\SID\sys\profile and click on the

next button down in the status bar it shows that INST., has detected one

TREX instance but in the next screen the OPTION UPGRADE is grayed out..I am unable

select that option.

Could help me in this regard

Dear Kiran Deverla

I had this problem in the past as well.

We installed the Trex from scratch again with that patch release in the end.

So unless you want to install from scratch (it does not take that long to install from scratch but you need to be aware of data already present, like indexes created etc). There are ways to export that data / settings and import on new installation though but be careful doing those things (I recommend taking a backup of your current setup first).

You can also open a customer message an hope they can fix the problem.

Possible the update does not recognise your TREX installation, if you use virtual hostnames, don't forget to set the switch SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual hostname> when running your sapinst.

Check the log files for errors or warnings.

Kind regards

Dear Kiran Deverla

You could also try stopping the TREX first, then apply the patch using sapinst, then start TREX up again.

In distributed environment you need to stop all TREX instances (divided over the servers and patch them one by one, then start up again in the correct order).

Kind regards

Tom
