I have done this using the following components:
a) SAP System based on Web Application Server 6.40 or 7.0
b) Kannel SMS gateway
c) Siemens gsm modem
d) Custom development using ABAP and BSP
This way I have achieved that the users can interact with the SAP system via SMS
Let me know if you need more information.

The easiest way to receive SMS messages in SAP is to use a GSM modem or mobile phone. You will need [GSM or 3G modem software|http://www.diafaan.com/] to retrieve the SMS messages from the GSM modem and forward them to SAP. The Diafaan software supports:
- [SMS to e-mail|http://www.diafaan.com/applications/e-mail-to-sms-gateway/]
- [Store received SMS in an external database|http://www.diafaan.com/manuals/diafaansmsserver/connect_to_a_database.htm]
- [Forward SMS to a web page with a POST or GET command|http://www.diafaan.com/manuals/diafaansmsserver/web_connector.htm]
It is also possible to use an internet based SMS service to receive the messages, usually the SMS messages are forwarded to a web page on your web server where you can store them in a database.
Hi,
can you access xMAM setup guides'? In there they have used this functionality and it is explained in the ´xMAM guides really well. So you should be able to get a much more detailed overview then we can give here in the forum.
Hope this helps!
Regards,
Oliver
