MDM-XI-ERP (customer master data)

Former Member

Hello all,

We want to implement an consolidation & harmonization scenario using Customer master data from ERP systems and XI/PI as middelware.

First to all, of course, we need to extract look-up & main data from our ERP system.

What is the best way?

- Is there any Enterprise service with this functionality?

- Should we implement ABAP? If so, Is it necessary to export look-up data as Countries...etc or MDM implements this kind of information in

its default repositories?

- Which are the steps to export data?

Any information will be very helpful

Best regards,

Hi Marta,

First you can go through the MDM IT scenario Configuration guide which is available in SAP service market place using S-userid. They explained every scenario in detail. the link is gicen below to dowload ITscenario Configuration guide.

https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/installmdm

Just breif description about your scenaro implementation steps:

1. check whether your R/3 system will support required MDM trasactions(i.e: T Codes:MDMGX,MDM_CLNT_EXTR).

1a.Above MDMGX is trasaction code to extract master data from a customized tables.

1b.MDM_CLNT_EXTR is transaction code to extract master data in the form of IDOC's and to post to XI system.

2.if your R/3 system is supporting above T Codes then you need to setup certain inbound/outbound Connections with your XI system to Post/Receive Master dara IDOC's to MDM system using above trasactions.

once you setup connections with XI system you can post master data based on business requirement.

hope it helps you.

Thank you for your help,

1a.Above MDMGX is trasaction code to extract master data from a customized tables.

Does it mean customized tables AND look-up tables (countries, ISO codes...etc)??

Thanks,

Marta.

Hi Marta,

Yes, you can use MDMGX transaction code for customized tables and look-up tables also.

The Lookup tabels will be filled first.

After that main table needs to be filled.

For the main table you can use Tcode: MDM_CLNT_EXTR and refer the link below for the same:

This completes the inbound process.

Hope this helps.

Hi Marta,

If you are using MDMGX, you need to apply patch 1076963 to your R/3 system and you need to Upload Patch 0014 of Package:

Support Package SAPKIPYJ6E

PI_BASIS 2005_1_640: patch 0014

Link for this note is

here you can search for the note number.
