Hello together,

I want to upgrade from i5/OS V5R4M0 to V6R1 in a partition for one R/3 System, which is not critical.

Do someone have a short HOWto list?

1.) The CD's I have here at my place.

2.) The PTF's I have to download.

best regards,

Carsten Schulz

I would also look at the red paper ' IBM i5/OS Program Conversion: Getting Ready for i5/OS V6R1' which can be found at:http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/Redbooks.nsf/RedbookAbstracts/redp4293.html?Open

Hello Carsten,

My suggestion is to use Info Center to start with the upgrade. Below the link to the upgrade process:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/systems/scope/i5os/topic/rzahc/fastpathrzahc.htm?tocNode=in...

We always use the Go licpgm option 5 functionality.

When using image catalogs and virtual opticals, you are able to copy the CD's to the system and can start the upgrade from the image catalog. Please download or order the latest cum pack available, the first cum pack for IBM i 6.1 did not solve all the problems we had, the second cum pack C8127 did.

We also found a nice tool provided by IBM, whuch enables you to check if your system is ready for the upgrade. It is called "IBM pre-upgrade verification tool for i5/OS" If you follow the link Provided earlier you will come across it, but here is al direct link to download this tool anyway: https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/iwm/web/preLogin.do?lang=en_US&source=ipvt

I hope this helps.

Regards, Rudi van Helvoirt.

Carsten,

the required PTF's for V6R1M0 are listed in IBM info APAR II14362, the required SAP patch levels are listed in SAP Note 1148480. Does that answer your question?

Kind regards,

Christian Bartels.
