Hi All,

I am working as an SAP-Tech Consultant(ABAP) for the last 3 years. I am interested in learning Netweaver. You all are requested to tell me which component of netweaver (EP or XI) will be more in demand in the future. Also I wanted to know which requires (EP or XI) the knowledge of JAVA.

Hi Siva

Welcome to the fascinating world of NetWeaver. To answer your first question, EP and XI are two different layers in the NetWeaver Arcihtecture designned to address totally different requirements.

While EP serves as the front end providing a single point of access to SAP and Non-SAP information resources, XI helps you integrate applications from multiple systems.

Both are important areas on their own and will be implemented based upon which one the project demands.

As for your second question the Java language is exploited to the maximum in EP though XI demends a basic knowledge of core Java as well as ABAP.

Check out this link on SAP's documentation site for further information on NetWeaver's architecture

Hope that helped

Best Regards

Hi,

They are two different worlds, where EP is more a end user centric product, XI is for interchanging data.

It's hard to tell all in a few lines, but more info can be found at https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/ep, https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/xi, service.sap.com/nw-ep, and service.sap.com/xi
