SRM MDM Catalog 2.0 install

Hi,

We have just installed SRM 5.5 Server and have requirement for SRM MDM-Catalog 2.0.

What are the SAP recommendations for installing MDM in SRM landscape? Does it need to be installed on a separate server or it can be installed on SRM Server.

I have not gone thru install document, yet, but I see that MDM needs a separate Database.

Also, how do I upgrade from MDM SP01 to SP06? Can I install MDM SP06 directly? The CD that comes with SRM SR3 pack contains MDM 2.0 SP01.

Your initial thoughts on this would be appreicated.

Hi,

I think most of customers install MDM in separate server because number of catalog items will be increase and keep options to use Master Data Management scenario in future.

You can download SRM-MDM Catalog 2.0 SP03 Patch04 via your SAP Solution Manager's Maintenance Optimizer.

Please note SRM-MDM Catalog 2.0 SP03 includes MDM components. Do not install the MDM from MDM installation kit. Please install MDM from SRM-MDM Catalog 2.0 SP03. Catalog search UI needs J2EE (AS Java).

Thanks for your response.

I am downloading MDM SP03 Patch 04 from Market place. I found two files, one for Windows 32 bit and another for OS-independent basis. Do I need both for the install?

Also, where can I find the installation package for SP06? Can I not directly install MDM SP06?

Becausing, ours is a new install, I prefer instaling SP06 directly rather than upgrading from SP03 to SP06 later.

As per OSS Note 1072842, the SP06 installation package available on request via OSS message.

Hi,

Again, please use SRM-MDM Catalog install kit. Do not use MDM install kit because you may face version mismatch issue between MDM and Catalog Search UI.

There are 2 products line and release schedule is different.

+ NetWeaver MDM 5.5 SP06 Server Patch 2 Hotfix 10 was released on 30.06.2008

+ SRM-MDM Catalog 2.0 SP03 Patch04 was released on 18.06.2008 ( includes required MDM components)

If you implement Master Data scenario, MDM licence is required. SRM-MDM Catalog license is included in SRM or ERP user license.

Final question, Can I install the following components on SRM J2EE Server (J2EE 7.0)?

UI components (Deploy on J2EE)

+ MDM Java API

+ SRM-MDM catalog UI

The install guide refers J2EE 640.

yes. NetWeaver 7.0 should be supported.
