parameter tab in user profile

Hi Friends,

Please help me on following menu option.

At menu system - user profile - own data, we can set our personal data.

What is the use of parameters tab?

We use Parameters tab to assign entries in commonly used fields. This is only available for input fields that have been allocated a parameter ID.

For example in transaction XD02, you have to enter company code every time you want to make changes to customer data.

You can make system default company code by assigning parameters and value in this tab.

Not all fields have Parameter ID.

You can follow this procedure for finding out a fields parameter ID. Go to the input field to which you want to assign a value. Choose F1, then the Technical info push button. This opens a window that displays the corresponding parameter ID in the Field data section.

for example in XD02 transaction, company code has parameter ID 'BUK'.

So this input field can be used to set default values.

Hi, can you give an example for a non input field viz. a field which does not have parameter id.

In XDO2 transaction, in address tab, take the field 'Name'

You can follow the procedure mentioned above and check whether this field has Parameter ID.

You would notice that this field has no parameter id assigned and hence cannot be used to set default values for a user.
