Hi experts,
I am new in XI,and just starting to learn. I have a very basic doubt.
In XI, one is XI server that can be used from SAP GUI and other is one that can be used using browser, like internet explorer. I wan to knw what are this two different component.and what role they plays. I had seen the help from sap but its too vast and i didnt got the ans of this basic question.
So plz give some suggestions.
Hi Brijesh,
In SAP Netweaver, SAP XI represents the Process Integration layer of the Netweaver stack and XI is running on top of the Application Platform of netweaver. There is a product called Web Application Server that resides in this application platform.
Now, this web application server has a J2EE engine component and an ABAP engine component. Hence, the SAP GUI you mentioned is using the ABAP engine component. The other one where you use the browser, you are using the J2EE engine component.
XI is really fun and I hope you are enjoying it as much as I do!
Regards,
Lex

Hi Brijesh,
It must the same server u r accessing,
By GUI u go through the ABAP stack,
and through u go through the java stack, like u would notice the java web start once u start the server from the browser.
U will get to know more abt it..as u get along..for now i think this should help u out
