This portion of text is taked from the SAP site:

Supported Linux Distributions:

The following Linux distributions are currently tested and certified for use in SAP environments. See also SAP note 171356:

Novell / SUSE:

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 for x86, x86_64, IPF, IBM iSeries, IBM pSeries and IBM zSeries

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 for x86, x86_64, IPF, IBM iSeries, IBM pSeries and IBM zSeries

SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 for x86, IPF and IBM zSeries (out of maintenance)

SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7 for IA32 and IBM zSeries (out of maintenance)

SuSE Linux Enterprise Server for IA32 (out of maintenance)

Hi;

I don't understand why SAP says that SUSE is Tested and Certified to use with SAP if the next Note (and must be others) say that is not true.

Note# 736147

"The SAP GUI for JAVA does not support the ActiveX controls used in the Smart Forms transaction."

We try it with SLED 10.1 SP2 and the smartforms doesn't work.

Dear David,

you have to separate the distributions between the fields of use - Server Application or Desktop Application.

The page you are referring to lists all distributions which are meant for Server Application.

The JavaGUI, which is a desktop application does have separate support statements.

The SAP on Linux forum usually handles the Server Application side.

If you want more information about the JavaGUI, please use the [JavaGUI forum|;. There you can discuss your concerns with the JavaGUI developers and users.

Best Regards,

Hannes
