Transport System STMS

Former Member

Hi all,

The transport system in production server(PRD) can import(copy) queue from development server(D01), but when importing, the status remain 'IMPORT RUNNING' for very long time(over 2 days) and new transport content cannot be used.

Do you know how to check on this?

Many thansk!

Daniel

I've fixed, there are too many transport requests.

Thanks for valuable information.

When a transport is running, there's always one of the following that's running.

At O/S level, look for tp.exe or r3trans.exe

OR

There's a R* job running

OR

You can see an active DIA process running

OR

There is a long running SQL command (most likely an index).

Also, check the A and S logs as mentioned above. If nothing is happening, you might as well cycle SAP, make sure that file handles are removed, and retransport.

Hi,

tp.exe is running

rdpclip.exe, ResrcMon.exe, rotatelogs.exe, Rtvscan32.exe is running

No DIA process is running

I have tried removing old transports and generate new transport, but still the same.

What's the content of your transport? DDIC changes (e.g. indexes, table changes, etc.), ABAP program, or configuration?

When I said "running" in my last post, I mean it's actually using up CPU cycles, not just sitting there.

Hi

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1. Stop and tp and R3trans process in the system.

2. Delete the entries from TRBAT and TRJOB.

3. Start the transport through STMS again.

Thanks, but how to "Delete the entries from TRBAT and TRJOB"?

Please kindly advise, many thanks!

Try doing it via the DB back-end.

But first, backup the contents first, just do a bcpout of the tables into the files. Then just truncate the tables.

Again, what's the content of this transport?

Transport content is ABAP program.

Tried 3 steps but now waited a long time during Reading Inport Queue in STMS, not yet finished.

Where is the cofile and data files in relation to the SAP instance you are importing into? Sometimes LAN/WAN performance issues can slow down the transport drastically.

Also, it's not a problem that something is running long, as long as there are activity. Did you check to see if anything's running?

I've checked the server has no job running in background, and the copying is fast because before I've check in the transport log, file is copied but not started import. The sign still being Import Running.

THansk!

is there a r3trans.exe on the O/S level taking up CPU cycles?

Since there's no job running in the background, is there a RDD* job in release / scheduled status at least?

Also, can you post both the A and S logs?

Hi,

No r3trans.exe running.

All RDD* jobs are in finished status

Where can I find the A and S log?

Thanks!

Hi Daniel,

The first thing to do is check the tp log by running STMS, click the Import Overview icon, and then selecting Goto - TP System log from the menus (post what you find back here).

Thanks,
