Unable to find OLD messages in RWB Adapter level message monitoring

Former Member

Hi Experts,

I have peculiar issue regarding the messages at the adapter level.

I see some messages in SXMB_MONI. I take the message ID from MONI and go to the Adapter Level Message Monitoring in RWB, but i do not see any message for that message id.

This is not happening for recent messages, but some old messages (2 months or so), we are unable to find the message at the adapter level.

I also tried chosingthe option, display from archive, but no use.

Can someone help me out??

Thanks and REgards,

Ravi

The messages are deleted from the adapter engine based on your configuration. If you need to look at messages which are two months old, you would have to change the retention period.

any ideas?

Hi,

Is there any specific requirement where you want to see the data in RWB. If not you can try seeing the message in XI database tables. Please search the data corresponding to message id in XI_AF_MSG.

Thanks

Amit

HI Amit,

I do not see any such table in my system.

@Praveen:

Where do we find the retention period setting?

Go to Visual Admin > Server 0 > Services > SAP XI Adapter: XI

On the right you would have two parameters:

1) xiadapter.inbound.persistDuration.default

2) xiadapter.outbound.persistDuration.default

The values of these parameters are in milleseconds. This would have to changed to match the duration period.

Thanks

Thanks Praveen, but

in my case,

I see a message on 03/29/2008

but cannot find a message on 04/29/2008

If the persist duration was three months, then how would the message on 04/29/2008 miss?

Hi,

The table name is XI_AF_MSG only , it will be there under the scema where all your xi tables are stored.

Thanks

Hi Amit,

Are you talking about the database tables that we see in SE16 transaction or something else?

Hi,

Not there, but at the backend DB tables where all the data are persisted in CI, by connecting to XI database using some tool like SQL Client or Toad in case your XI server is running on Oracle DB and directly executing a query in your db.

Thanks

How do we do this?

How do we access the backend database?

Are the tools(SQL Client or Toad) freely available?

Hi,

Only basis person can do. Are you the adminsitrator of your xi server ? If so you must be having database super user id/pwd. On which database your XI server is installed? If it is Oracle you can use sql plus or toad which are freely available.

Thanks

Thanks Amit.

I am not the admin for the XI server.

But I will provide the information to the basis guy.

But my basic question remains. Why is it not showing in RWB->Adapter level message Monitoring, assuming that it is there in the Database ?

Hi,

Thats' whay I want to find first if the message is there in database or not. If it is there then we can try to find why it is not showing up in front end.

Thanks

Amit
