SAP on IBM AIX with Oracle

Experts,

We are planning to go for SAP Netweaver CE 7.1.

(Usage Type : Web As for Java, EP Core & EP)

Kindly route me to some SAP Notes/Docs/Links for Prerequisites/Installation notes/Constraints and provide me

the Latest Versions available of OS: AIX,DB :Oracle & SAP etc..

What are all the issues I might face at the time of Installation?

Do I need any Oracle Patch?Do I need any OS Level Patch?

Overall please provide your experience with SAP on AIX?

(Usage Type : Web As for Java, EP Core & EP)

CE 7.1 is a separate product, you can´t install EP (core) on top of it. If you want to run a portal you need to install Netweaver 7.0.

Read the installation guides, everything is documented there. It will point you to notes and additional documentation.

I could see that SAP Netweaver CE 7.1 is available with more features for EP.

EP 7.1 does not exist (yet).

CE is used to build applications (or to composite them) and use the portal to run them. If you install CE you won´t get a portal.

Can you tell me what are all the options available to have SAP Netweaver CE 7.1 & EP 7.0.

1. Should I install EP & CE 7.1 as seperate instances?

If yes then how to connect EP and CE71?

2. Can I install EP & CE 71 in same instance?

If yes what are all the disadvantages?

3.If I want to have only EP 7.0 with Latest Service Pack,

Do I need SAP Netweaver CE7.1?

or I can use only EP 7.0?what is the difference and advantages?

4. in some links I have seen that some of the new Features has been given for Portal in CE7.1,In which version of the Portal& Service Pack Do I have these new features?

Whether you need CE or not depends on your business case.

Usually the question is not "if I install XY what can I do with it" but "I have a case ABC - what software do I need?".

You can install both on one machine, on separate machines or on an LPAR, this depends on your requirement, needed performance and available resources.

The question is: What do you want do to (from a business view)?

NW CE 7.1 will be available from Oct 2008. It is in the Final Ramp Up phase.

It is worth to wait coz you will got lots of new features with that.
