Dear Sap Gurus,

What is handling unit.

what is automatic leg determination.at what sequence it is useful?

I read the document from the library but stil i cannot able to understand the concept.

Kindly explain me the above concepts with a simpler language

Dear Divya,

Handling unit

A physical item consisting of packaging materials and the material they contain.

A handling unit(HU) has a single, scannable identification number that can be used to call up the data.

Handling Unit uses in the Packing process of the material.

Each packing material having sing handling unit number.

Automataic leg determination

This is relevant to the Transportation planning.It is the process to determine the legs automatically while creating shipment document based on the specified data.

While creating the shipment document if you want to get legs automatically(Primery leg,Main leg,subsequent leg or direct leg) you need to do the automatic leg determination configuration settings.

If you want legs to be copied from the route then no need of automatic leg determination procedure,

You can also enter legs maually while creating shipment document.

Hi Divya,

You can trigger automatic leg determination by:

1, Initiating it directly on the stages screen in the shipment document

2. setting status 'planned' in the shipment header
