Hi,
I have installed both XI and R/3 in My laptop.
R/3 is installed using Vmware.
How to configure this SAP R/3 system in VMWARE to the XI server's SLD?
Hi,
Using RFC/IDoc adapters you should be able to connect to the R/3 3.1 systems.
For a WebAS 6.20 system you can connect using IDOC or RFC adapter, or by using ABAP Proxies. To enable ABAP proxies, you will need to install the APPINT plugin on the system.
Refer this weblog on choosing a right adapter for integrating SAP systems.
You can connect the two server instances using VMWare's networking options. Depending on which version of vmware you have and your setup, I guess you have multiple options, but bridged networking seems to be the better solution

Have a read through this and decide. If yours is a newer version, the options are probably similar anyway.
