Hi!
We are using SPFILE in our Oracle102 systems. My coworker mistakingly delected all files
in the .../dbs directory and we dont have a backup of the lost files.
Now the DB is down.
We have 2 options:
1) copy other DB's PFILE and edit it (e.g. change the SID, etc.), after the DB is up, create the spfile
from the PFILE.
2) copy other DB's initSID.ora and edit it (e.g. change the SID, etc.), start the DB.
Please advise which way is better.
Thanks!!
Third option? Restore your ../dbs dir from a recent backup.
Other options you list will most likely work, but you will miss any specific memory sizing settings (for example) you may have had on the DB thats lost its ../dbs dir.
