Hi,

I am installing the BW 7.0 / SEM 6.0 IDES package on win 2003 Server. the installation went smoothe till it reached the part of "Check DDIC password", I logged in to the system and unlocked the DDIC user. However now when it reached the "Change default passwords" the installation stops with error messages.

Below are snapshots from the sapinst.log and sapinst_dev.log

I would start from scratch, as it is not that much effort. During install, I tend to stick w/ a single password for everything. This way there is no guessing later. After the install is sucessful, you can then change the user passwords to your liking.

Also, the error seems to be result of a password which is invalid (PASSWORD_NOT_ALLOWED). I would use a simpler password. Stick w/ all capital cases, use characters plus 1 number and 1 special character. For the special character, make sure to not use a character that SAP can't accept (I know that ! and @ works).

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Actually I looked for the entries you specified in keybd.xml, and none exist.

Hi Markus,

Many thanks for you help.

1- I set the passwords to the defaults for SAP* & DDIC

2- Modified [ERROR] to [OK] in keydb.xml.

3- Started the instance

4- Started sapint and continued with the old installation.

However it still bugs at changing default passwords, but this time with a different message:

sapinst.log:

Shall I simply restart the installation from scratch given that I set a proper password as a master pawword (<Character> + 7 digits).

Hi,

first login into 000 client and check whether DDIC is lock or not.

if it is not lock then reset password of DDIC and give initial password.

then again login with 000 client with DDIC user and initial password it's ask you to change password.

change password to 19920706

now,

1. Open keydb.xml in a notepad.

2. search for the table t_SAPComponent_SAPSystemLogon_SHARED

then look for <fld name="pPW">, <properties>,

<property name ="GUIENG_USER_INPUT" and set the value

"GUINEG_TRUE" to "GUIENG_FALSE".

3. Save the changes.

repeat the installation.

Either the password you entered (the master password) is too small or it contains invalid characters. What you can do is:

- change the DDIC password to your desired one

- stop sapinst

- edit "keydb.xml", search for "ERROR" (after CDATA) and replace by "OK"

- restart sapinst

- continue old installation
