Hi

Is look up table and field is used for validation purpose. I mean suppose there are some division name under look up table for example A,B,C,D. Now when we are going to put the division name in corresponding look up division field. Then there we can put the values that are defined under the lookup table

? Value that are not in look up table we can't put those under look up field.

Is it? Am I right?

Hi Shalini

you are correct. Lookup tables are used for using only legalized values in main record.This way MDM offers data sanity checks and correctness. Also it augments the data model performance as same set of lookup values can be used in thousands of records as reference data minimizing the space taken by repository.

HI ,Shalini, i have one doubt

      Assume MDB table is loaded with only 3 EMP, Source of transaction data contains 10 EMP.

now extract only the transaction data that corresponding to the EMP availble in MDB table.

then the table is called is called look up table?

if its correct what is the diffarence b/w look up table & mdb table.
