Hi,
Can anyone tell about the Relationship table?
Hw can we add records to it and its benefits ?
Any Business case where we can implement this?
Regards
Nisha
Hi Nisha,
Yes you can create Relationships Import Manager also.
The steps you need to follow is:
You need to create a file with the columns according to the relationship you are trying to create. For eg : If you are trying to create a Parent-Child Relationship in that case you have to create two columns named as Parent and Child in the source file and then map them to the fields in the destination file and then you can import the data.
There is no Record Matching Step in case of Import Manager as the Matching is done at the server end only.
Hope this helps..
If helpful do reward points!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
Can anyone tell about the Relationship table?
Relationship table: These tables are used to define relation between Records. For Example we have three Records in Data Manager as:
Name ProductID
GeometryBox 1000
Pencil 1001
Rubber 1002
So here we want to maintain relationship b/w these records as:
GeometryBox as Parent Record and Pencil, Rubber as child to
GeometryBox where we maintain Pencil and Rubber too as Sibling Relationship.
Hw can we add records to it and its benefits ?
Firstly Go to MDM Console>Connect to Repository->Relationships Table --->Add Relationship of type Parent/Child fill Property Name=Parent Item Name Is= Parent, Name2=Child Item and Select Parent Table and Child Table as Main Table.
Now, After loading repository Go to MDM Data Manager---> A Relationship Qualified table will get display over Masks: In Relationships you will get two Relationships as:
Parent Item<Child Item>
Child Item<Parent Item>
Now for your Record Geometry Box click on Child Item<Parent Item> in Relationships table a new pop up window will open here for Children of Anchor Parent you can either select the Record Pencil first and then Pick and Drag to Children of Anchor Parent similarly for Rubber. OR you can also add relationships as from Main Menu Relationships then Add to group.
Any Business case where we can implement this?
Yes, in SRM-MDM Catalog you can define such kind of relationships which on selecting a record say PC further show the child records say Keyboard define as child Relationship for this record which you done in MDM Data Manager.
So further you can define relationships as Substitute Items which will Display Substitute items on the behalf of absent Item if you have defined relationship between records purely depends what kind of relationship you define in MDM console..
Hope it will Help you,

Hi Nisha,
Yes it is possible to import relationships using Import Manager. You wil get the Name or your relationship(appears in the bottom) created in the drop down list of Destination tables.
If you want to try importing, export the relationship from the Data Manager into Excel modify one or two records and then Import that file using Import Manager.

Hi,
Is it possible to establish relation through import manager?
How is that done?
Relationships are of two types:
Parent/Child and Sibling which you can define using Console.
For Type Parent/Child Relationship you can import and export relationships using MDM Data Manager and can Import using MDM Import Manager.
For Type Sibling Relationship you can import and export using MDM Data Manager but can not import using MDM Import Manager.
you can try this after defining relationships b/w records in Data Manager then you export file in txt format and then delete these relationships in MDM Data Manger , then Relationship of type Parent/Child can be imported either using Import manager or using Data Manager. you can get the same relationships which you have maintained earlier but for type Sibling you need to import through Data Manager only.
Note: Display Fields play Significant Role in Maintaining Relationships as you export relationships it only contain Display Fields.
Hope it will Help you,

Nisha,
Apart from above you can Import relationships via IM but you cannot export them! So if another systems needs to be informed about these relationships' change - you need to form a custom app.

Hi Nisha,
Please refer to the below thread
Business example: Computer consists of different parts Ram, Hardisk, processor etc. All these components can be the individual products i.e. single hardisk can be sold individually and same for other parts. But we cannot sale computer without these parts because we have Computer whole as a product. We can maintain this type of relationship in MDM using relationship table.
It is visible in the area where we can see the Qualified tables because relationship itself is a qualified table.

Hi Nisha,
Relationships table is used to define each of the different record-level relationships. Each relationship can be either bidirectional (sibling) or unidirectional (parent-child). This table is managed in the MDM Console and is not visible in the MDM Client, although the relationships between records can themselves be created and edited in Record mode.
there is a relationship cell in Data manager.
Relationships Cell
For each product-level relationship, you can link one or more records to the current record by double-clicking on the cell in the Record Detail tab to open the Relationships pop-up window.
The MDM Client has a window for adding
and removing related records for each product-level
relationship. The relationships windoe can be opened from Relationships field, which appears on the right side of the Record Detail tab.
Each product-level relationship is like a multi-valued lookup
field, in that it stores the links to one or more records.
Relationships pop-up window can only be opened if a
single record is selected in the Records grid.
When zero records are selected or more than one record is
selected in the Records grid, the Relationships field is disabled .
In the the Relationships pop-up window, you can access to the
following functions:
u2022 View related records for each product-level relationship.
u2022 Add (link) related records to the anchor record.
u2022 Remove (unlink) related records from the anchor record.
u2022 Split related sibling records into a new sibling group.
u2022 Reorder the child records of a parent/child relationship.
u2022 Change the anchor record.
u2022 Import relationship links from a text file.
u2022 Export relationship links to a text file.
To add one or more related records to a relationship:
1. click on the tab for the relationship to which you want to
add related records to make it the active tab.
2. Make sure the current table is the table that contains the records you want to add.
3. In the Records pane, select the records that you want to relate to the anchor record, either as: (1) siblings of a sibling anchor; (2) children of a parent anchor; or (3) parents of a child anchor.
4. Choose Relationships > Add to Relationship from the main menu, or drag-and-drop the records into the applicable sibling grid or nonanchor parent/child grid.
5. MDM adds the related records.
To remove one or more related records from a relationship:
1. If necessary, click on the tab for the relationship from which you want to remove related records to make it the active tab.
2. In the applicable grid, select the records you want to remove.
3. Right-click on one of the records and choose Remove from
Relationship from the context menu, or press Del, or choose
Relationships > Remove from Relationship from the main menu.
4. MDM removes the related records.
Reward if helpful.
