In SLD: Create Product and Software Components with/without dependencies, Technical System and Business System for each (Sender and Receiver)

Tip: If we donu2019t have sufficient information to create a Business System in SLD for Sender or Receiver then we can use Business Service in ID as shown in this example (Cross Company Environment).

u2022 In IR: Import Software Components that we have created in SLD, Create Namespaces then under Interface Object we have to create Data type, Message Type, Message Interface for each (Sender and Receiver). After this we have to create Massage Mapping and Interface Mapping for the scenario under Mapping Objects. Finally we have to activate all these objects we have created in IR.

u2022 In ID: Create Configuration Scenario under which we have to import / assign Business Systems / Business Services, Communication Channels for (Sender and Receiver), then we have to create Receiver Determination, Interface Determination, Sender Agreement and Receiver Agreement. Again we have to activate all these objects in ID.

HI

SLD: In SLD we save products, software components and business systems for logical level, and technical systems for technical level. We can use SLD to determine which technical systems are installed on our landscape, which of these are assigned to a business system and which products and software components are installed in this system.

Technical System: TS is a conceptual representation of a physical system, such as physical sap server with a number of software components installed.

Business System is a logical representation of a Technical System.

SLD Cache: The integration builder accesses information about software components, business systems, and technical systems in the SLD. This cache is updated every time the integration builder is restarted.

Technical system is a phisical machine, it have a IP. Can be a BBDD, ERP, J2EE ......... a Business System is a logical term that we use into the Business Scenarios and represent these Technical System that we had created.

The technical system describes the physical view and the business system the logical view, respectively.

So in most cases you must define both but while a technical system can only link to one WEB AS, more than one business systems can link to the same technical system.

Tech System - Holds the tech details like installation no, db instance.

Technical Systems are of following types:

Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape. An example of an application system is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) server. In the SLD, there are five types of technical systems:

1.)WEBas java,

2.)Standalone JAVA

3.)Third party

4.)Web as ABAP

1) Web AS Java

Web AS Java systems consist of one or more instances and each instance is installed on a separate host. An instance itself consists of cluster nodes that can communicate with each other.

2.)Standalone Java

Standalone Java technical systems are standalone Java applications that are installed in a computer system from an administration perspective. They can also be installed as an operating system service or as a daemon

Web AS java belongs to the NetWeaver Comes with both ABAP and Java, Standalone instread comes separate from the netWeaver.

3) Third party technical sytem

It can be any of the technical sytem. let us say if you want to send a file to R/3, here the file reside in your local system. for that you can define your local system as a third party technical system.

All those machines that comes under non sap, belongs to the third party.

4.) Web AS ABAP technical systems, ranging from any SAP system to an APO server or CRM server, are based on the same Basis Component (BC), which includes the ABAP interpreter, ABAP Dictionary, ABAP Workbench, and so on. A dedicated database, which stores most of the data of the BC and the application components, is associated with the system.

Also refer : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/24/8fa93e08503614e10000000a114084/content.htm

we have Technical Systems in XI are the conceptual representation of a physical system, such as a physical SAP server with a number of Software Components installed.which gives u details about technical systems wether it is a JAVA system ,ABAP system,or some legacy system....

in case business system,it gives u the logic,i mean Business Systems in XI are the conceptual representation of a logical system, such as a specific client on a SAP server or a 3rd Party payroll application.

SLD is the place where u can define systems that are existing in ur landscape. using these systems u can transfer data from one system to another using PI.

creation of a system comprises of products, software components, technical system, business system.

System Landscape Directory

There are two main areas of content in the SLD: the software catalog, and the system catalog.

The Software catalog describes the installed products and their constituent components. The software catalog is delivered with contents about all SAP products. Customers and Partners can extend this catalog with information about software from other vendors.

The System Catalog describes the systems in the data center from two perspectives: a logical view (business systems) and a physical view (technical systems). In other words, the Systems catalog describes the concrete implementation of the customer landscape.

Information from the software catalog is used in the Integration Repository to organize development efforts. Information from the systems catalog is used in the Integration Directory to drive the specific configuration of Integration scenarios.

SAP XI utilizes both types of content:

Integration Repository: Component Information

Integration Directory: Landscape Description

Technical System and Business system

In the Systems Catalog we define each Technical system in the landscape. The technical System correlates the software to the physical host on which it is installed. The exact settings for each system depend on the system type.

Technical systems are the basis for defining Business Systems. The association between the Technical System and Business System is dependent on the TS type; for instance, in a system based on Web AS (ABAP), each client in the system is a separate Business System.

To create a Technical System definition there is a wizard interface in the SLD.

For defining Business Systems, the four important pieces of data are:

u2022 Business System Name (must be unique in the landscape)

u2022 Associated Technical system name, and if the Business System will be used with IDoc interfaces, a Logical System Name

u2022 The Software Products (and associated SWCVu2019s) that are used by the Business System. The products are brought through from the Technical System definition; but for a particular Technical System, not all products will necessarily be associated with a particular Business System.

u2022 The Related Integration Server.

All of these settings can be defined in the Business System Wizard.

Hi Praveen,

1 ) What is the purpose of using technical systems.

Technical system is used to refer the application host name.

2 ) how is SLD is involved in Integration Directory .

In Integration Directory, the Business System which is configured at SLD is used.
