Hi,

Generqal item category group is applicable for all materials and found in basic data tabage...

Item category group is applicable for only sales relavent materials and can be found in sales tabages only...

General item category group will be used for all kinds of materials which are relevant for sales and not relvant for sales. For example some of the materials are not meant for sales. There u dont get sales tabges and u dont find item category group filed there but u see only general item group only in basic data tabge..

But if the material is relavent for sales then u can find item categroy group filed in sales tabage...

Hi,

Item Categor Group and general Item category group noth are same.

The item category in the sales document depends on the sales document type and the material. An item category group is defined in the material master record. For example, in the standard SAP System, the item category group NORM is defined for materials kept in stock and the group DIEN for services and non-stock material.

General Item Category is Used for all. not specifically to SD related Issue. and Item category group is used for SD purposes.

Hope this will help.

Reward point if helpful.

Thanks,

Hi,

Item Category Group is one of the component which along with the Sales Doc Type, The Item Usage and Higher Level Item Category decide about the Item Category in a sales doc.

As per definition General Item Category Group & Item Category Group both are to detrmine Item Category in Sales Document.

the Item Category Group is used to determine Item Category.

General item category is a broader term and used other than SD processes
