Hi,
My SAP is hung and I'm not able to issue "stopsap" to stop it.
I tried to use sqlplus to "shutdown immediate" but it also hung at "connect /as sysdba"
I can always reboot the server (at OS) level but I would much prefer a graceful stopping of SAP & Oracle.
Can anyone advise?
Thanks & regards
Rebooted at OS level

Yes... a graceful database stop is fully recommended...
If you DB is hanging for a long time and the shutdown immediate is not working... you can call a "shutdown abort" command which will kill the DB processes but this could cause problems or not depending on the state of the db at the time the command is issued... check the db alert logs to see if theres any clues on why the db is hanging..
Regards
Juan
