Dear all,
I have the instances as follows.
DEVBMGS00 for production.
DEVBMGS25 for development
DEVBMGS00 for Quality
Now my question is:
Can any1 tell me what is central instance how to determine the central instance out of the three?

Hello Vicky,
All these three are different instances and hence each one of them will have their own central instance. Going by te naming pattern since each one of supports enque work process each on of them is a central instance.

Dear Ruchit,
Thanks for your reply but I need to know what exactly is central instance and as far as I know we can have only one central instance then how we have three.
Yes you are right and I checked in sm50 all have enque process but what you check to know this.
Also what is the max number of central instance we can have if we have 3?
regards,
Ashutosh
No... you didn't understand...
You have 3 systems...
DEVBMGS00 for production.
DEVBMGS25 for development
DEVBMGS00 for Quality
each system has a central instance as each system needs to have an enque process for handling the locks on each individual database. in a system (say one of the three above) you can have more that one instance the central instance is the one that holds the enque process.
Regards
Juan
