Hi All,
Am getting an error in Step 23 - Check DDIC Password with following messages.
ERROR 2005-12-21 22:05:46
CJS-30056 Password for user 'DDIC/000' is empty.
Pl help me to solve this issue.
Regards,
Srini S
Hi Kadiga,
The intention of removal the DDIC password entry in the inifile is, that the installer prompt you for password
input, and if this is the case, it should work.
As you mention you can log on with user DDIC and password.
Is there another inifile at the location of inifile.xml, perhaps inifile.1.xml.
Please remove in every file the above mention tag. (Starting with
<table name="-NW_ABAP_OneHost-ind-ind-ind-ind-0-0-
NW_CI_Instance-ind-ind-ind-ind-13-0-
NW_CI_Instance_ABAP_Reports-ind-ind-ind-ind-1-0-
NW_DDIC_Password-ind-ind-ind-ind-0-0"

Hello Srini,
could you please provide information on how you start the installation?
The folder <EXTRACT_DIRECTORY>\SAPNW2004sSneakPrevABAP\Installation_Master\IM_WINDOWS_I386 should contain a file called "inifile.xml". This file contains the initial (DES encrypted) DDIC password. You may check whether the file exists and contains the password.
Kind regards,
Klaus

Hi Srini,
And how did you start the installation?
By using the start.bat file and browse to Installation page?
Does the inifile also exist in your sapinst directory
(default: C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir\NW04S\LM\COPY\ADA\SYSTEM\CENTRAL\AS-ABAP)
with the encrypted password for DDIC user?
You could try to copy and paste the xml tag for the DDIC
password from the inifile.xml (downloaded installation
file) to the inifile.xml in the sapinst_instdir folder and
restart the installation.
Note: In the first dialog box that appears after execution of sapinst
choose "Continue installation".
Rgds,
Klaus
Hi,
By trying to relaunch the installation after one first error in the step 23, the installation always stops in the step 23 and a popup appear with the message:
Test logon System NSP failed.
Make sure that the system is started, that the user DDIC exists and the password of user DDIC is correct.
However, the system NSP is started and when i click on button OK to the popup,the action has no effect and i have always the popup.
Thank's for you help
Med
Hi Med,
you could try following:
1. Ascertain whether there is a file called inifile.xml in your sapinst_instdir (default location is
C:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir\NW04S\LM\COPY\ADA\SYSTEM\CENTRAL\AS-ABAP)
2. If you found the xml file, open it using an editor and delete the tag for the DDIC password:

<columns>
<column name="INFO">
<defaultproperties>
<property name="ORIGINAL_TABLE_NAME" value="t_ddic" />
</defaultproperties>
</column>
<column name="ddicPassword" />
</columns>
<row>
<fld name="INFO">
<strval>

des19(92|25|149|251|114|145|246|93|)

3. Try to log on the NSP system client 000 using
user: sap*
password: minisap and reset the password for DDIC
(by using transaction SU01).
4. Log off and on again using user DDIC.
Give DDIC a new password.
5. Start sapinst and choose continue existing installation.
There should appear a dialog box asking for DDIC's password. Enter the password you choose.
Hope this works and helps.
Rgds,
Klaus
