A Summary of the Steps to be carried out to enable a SAP R/3 System send Idocs to SAP Exchange Infrastructure.

First - Maintain the Sender R/3 System:

u2022 SM59 : Create a RFC destination to XI

u2022 WE21 : Create a TRFC Port ->Specify the RFC Destination Created

u2022 BD54 : Create a Logical System for the Idoc Receiver

u2022 WE20 : Create Partner Profile ->Maintain Outbound and the Inbound Parameters

Second - Log on to XI System:

u2022 SM59 : RFC Destination for Sender System

u2022 IDX1 : Create the port to get Idoc Metadata from Sender System ( The Port Name must match the port name in the idoc header - Usually in format SAP<System ID>. eg. SAPID1 [Optional Step. Not mandatory]

u2022 IDX2 : Maintain the Idoc Metadata. This is needed only by XI, and not by other SAP systems. IDX2 is needed because XI needs to construct IDoc-XML from the IDoc. No other SAP system needs to do that.

To Enable Acknowledgement:

u2022 SXMB_ADM ->Integration Engine Configuration ->Specific Configuration ->Add New entry -> Select parameters as:

o Category: RUNTIME

o Parameters: ACK_SYSTEM_FAILURE

o Current Value: 1

GO TO SLD:

u2022 Create Technical System: Choose WEB AS ABAP if the system is R/3 -> Define SAP SID, Installation Number and Database Host Name a Maintain message Server Details according to Sender System -> Maintain Client Details of Sender System ->Select a Installed Product for Sender System

u2022 Create Business System: Choose WEB AS ABAP if the system is R/3 -> Choose the Technical System and the client Created Before -> Choose the Installed Product -> Set:

o Business System Role: Application System

o Related Integration Server: Integration Server

Integration Builder

Integration Directory:

u2022 Add Business System: Adapter Specific Identifiers -> 'Logical System' identical to the 'Logical System Name' in the SLD Business System

hi,

how to use that idocs in xi

u should import those idocs into XI then go for the ALE SETTINGS..

ALE SETTINGS are used to make connections between XI and R/3..

steps are given below...

SAP XI

1) RFC Destination (SM59)

a) Choose create.

b) Specify the name of the RFC destination

c) Select connection type as 3 and save

d) In the technical settings tab enter the details SAP SID/URL and system number#.

e) Enter the Gateway host as same details above SID/URL.

f) Gateway service is 3300+system number#.

Ts for Third Party (Logical system):-

BS for SAP R/3 (Logical system):- Assign the client name created in R/3 as Logical system Name.

BS for Third Party (Logical system):-Enter the XI logical system name.

In Transaction SALE

Define and Assign the logical system name.

Firt you should create IDoc in R3 and that Idoc structure to be imported into XI.

-In name space , select imported objects option and enter the system information

under imported objetc - right clickand import objects and enter the app server details and system no and user, pwd ,,

later import the required Idoc. into XI..

HI

IDoc (for intermediate document) is a standard data structure for electronic data interchange (EDI) between application programs written for the popular SAP business system or between an SAP application and an external program. IDocs serve as the vehicle for data transfer in SAP's Application Link Enabling (ALE) system. IDocs are used for asynchronous transactions: each IDoc generated exists as a self-contained text file that can then be transmitted to the requesting workstation without connecting to the central database. Another SAP mechanism, the Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI) is used for synchronous transactions.

A large enterprise's networked computing environment is likely to connect many geographically distributed computers to the main database. These computers are likely to use different hardware and/or operating system platforms. An IDoc encapsulates data so that it can be exchanged between different systems without conversion from one format to another.

IDoc types define different categories of data, such as purchase orders or invoices, which may then be broken down into more specific categories called message types. Greater specificity means that an IDoc type is capable of storing only the data required for a particular transaction, which increases efficiency and decreases resource demands.

An IDoc can be generated at any point in a transaction process. For example, during a shipping transaction process, an IDoc may be generated that includes the data fields required to print a shipping manifest. After a user performs an SAP transaction, one or more IDocs are generated in the sending database and passed to the ALE communication layer. The communication layer performs a Remote Function Call (RFC), using the port definition and RFC destination specified by the customer model. The IDoc is transmitted to the receiver, which may be an R/3, R/2, or some external system.

Idoc creation

IDOC Programming

There are two processes in IDOC processing one is INBOUND PROCESS( IDOC coming to the system and its handling at various stages) and the other is OUTBOUND PROCESS( IDOC is send to other system . Separate ABAP programs are written for these 2 processes and different configuration settings are required for each one .Depending upon the trigeering mechanism different programming approaches are used.OUTBOUND PROGRAMS handle the IDOC creation and INBOUND PROGRAMS handle the inbound IDOC and the data trasfer from the IDOC to the database tables.

The basic structure of all outbound programs is same. The CONTROL

record which is of TYPE EDIDC has to be filled. It contains important fields like

IDOCTP IDOC type

MESTYP Message Type

RCVPRN Recieving Partner (Destination)

RCVPRT Partner Type (it is LS i.e Logical System)

The DATA RECORD internal table which is of TYPE EDIDD has to be filled

in the same order as there are segments in the IDOC definition.

It has 2 important fields which are to be filled ,these are

SEGNAM Name of the segment

SEGDATA Data in the segment and can be upto 1000 bytes. This field

is corresponds to each data segment in the IDOC.

e.g.

DATA INT_EDIDD LIKE EDIDD OCCURS 0 WITH HEADER LINE.

DATA W_SEGDATA LIKE zsegment "custom segment zsegment

INT_EDIDD-SEGNAM = 'ZSEGMENT'

W_SEGDATA-field1 = value "taken from some table

W_SEGDATA-field2 = value "taken from some table

INT_EDIDD-SEGDATA = W_SEGDATA

APPEND INT_EDIDD

This will fill the data record corresponding to the segment ZSEGMENT . For all

segments the sam steps will be repeated until all the data corresponding to all the

segments in the idoc is filled in the internal table of type EDIDD.

There is only one control record and can be multile data records in the idoc

structure.

Which data is to be extracted from the tables to be filled in EDIDD type internal table is determined in standalone programs from the objects which are specified in the selection screen and from the object key passed to the function module in case of message control and is taken from BDCP table in case of change pointers using function modules "CHANGE_POINTERS_READ"

In case of stand alone programs and function modules based on change pointers method the function module "MASTER_IDOC_DISTRIBUTE" is used to send the IDOC to ALE layer for distribution ,in case of message control it is handled automatically by the RSNASTED program invoked by the message control.

HI

Idoc is sender in the case

1) when idoc is sent from SAP system like standard idocs ex MATMAS, CREMAS etc

Other way u can also customise the idoc in R/3 and then send it.

2) SAP system is Integrated with any SAP/Non-SAP system

Idoc is receiver

1)Like in SAP to SAP system integration. like u wanna send Matmas from R/3 system to another R/3 system.

2) File to idoc ::File system To SAP system integration. File is mapped with standard IDoc which u have imported in IR

3) any system to SAP sytem.

regarding settings required pls go thru the sdn...

u will lot many replies.

Also try to serach in SDN first n then put the query in forum

Thanks

Hi,

The IDoc adapter enables you to process IDocs (Intermediate Documents) using the Integration Engine. IDocs from SAP systems Release 3.1x or higher are supported.

The IDoc adapter is used by SAP systems to connect to a centrally configured Integration Engine using IDocs. A system that has an Integration Engine of this type is referred to as the Integration Server. External systems can also use the IDoc adapter to connect to an Integration Server.

The requirements for an IDOC scenario with SAP XI/PI don't really differ much from the standard SAP requirements set for IDOC communication.

With the only difference that you probably want to import the Metadata of the IDOC being processed using transaction IDX1 and IDX2 in SAP XI. Then based on that you can also import the XML metadata in the repository and start doing your mappings...

In other words, you will need to create/configure IDOC parameters such as Partner and receive Port/Port nr, RFC destinations etc.

Reagrds,

Rob
