How to calculate the bandwidth for SAP Backbone.

Here is a question regarding to the bandwidth calculation of SAP backbone. Please help to provide some hints.

There is SAP client network consists of some branches, they are connected by VPN IP connection.

Here is the simple schema of this SAP network:

SAP server network - SAProuter __ branch network 1

_ branch network 2

_ branch network 3

_ branch network 4

_ branch network 5, ...etc...

For each branches, I have made the calculation of SAP Front-End bandwidth requirement by using this formula:

C = X * N * D * 0.25

But, I don't know how to calculate bandwidth requirement for the backbone (of the SAP server network).

The above formula maybe not applied to the calculation for the backbone, because it is used for SAP Front-End and not related to the SAP server itself.

Could you please tell me how to calculate bandwidth requirement for the

backbone (of the SAP server network)?

this is part of sizing, one of the most critical things when setting up systems and there is no "formula" there without knowing what you do. Obviously your system has to be checked by the regards of the actions that will happen there.

This can only be done by your hardware partner. For a rough estimate there is the [quicksizer|service.sap.com/quicksizer]
