Error importing *.SCA file into NWDS: Import (into source SC) not possible

All,

When attempting to import an SCA into a new project in NWDS, an "Import (into source SC) not possible: SCA doesn't contain DC sources" occurs. Any assistance to fix this issue appreciated.

Thanks,

Lee

Hi Lee,

What are you importing and how? What do you mean by "Importing an SCA into new project via NWDS" .... Are you importing a new development configuration in the developer studio, or are you syncing some archives or are you importing SCAs via the CMS.

The error indicates there are no sources and hence the import fails. Extract the SCA and make sure sources are packed inside before you do the import.

Attempting to locally import the ESS12_0-10002965.sca downloaded from marketplace under the assumption that all components were included. A custom project and development configuration were created from scratch but receive the above error when importing the sca with the goal of modifying an ESS webdynpro application.

Thanks

You cannot import SCA's into NWDS.

I appreciate the response but could you clarify that statement. Do you mean to say an archived SCA cannot be imported into a source component. We have no issues when importing as an archived component.

Thanks,

SCA's are imported into a track using the CMS Transport Studio of the NWDI server, not with NWDS.

You can indeed import SCAs into local development configurations in NWDS (Eclipse). You have to have a pre-existing software component of the same name and vendor which may or may not be empty.

In the Development Infrastructure perspective in NWDS 7.1, just right-click on the software component you want to overwrite with the import and choose "Import".

To import SCAs into a CMS track in the NWDI, you have to go to http://<NWDI server>:5<nn instance no>00/devinf/ and import the SCAs from the transport inbox directory of the NWDI server. Don't forget to maintain the SLD if necessary.

Cheers,

Thorsten
