Hello

SAP XI is basically a part of Process integration in simplified language to say where as process integration is a part of SAP NEtweaver.

process integration is platform where sub process are integreated to get the result out in which SAP XI is used.

2. PI 7.1 have various mapping Enhancements as well as reusability of UDFs across the mappings etc. which is not available in PI 7.0

3. PI 7.1 comes with the concept of folders for more flexibale and Organized way of developements.

4.Advanced adapter engine is used in PI 7.1, which have overcome the various communication related limitations of previous versions

5.High Volume support in PI 7.1

SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 (SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1)

You can use the ES Repository and Registry with SAP NetWeaver PI and take full advantage of the process integration capabilities of SAP NetWeaver. With the ES Repository, you can start modeling your business process and designing your interfaces, data types and mappings for the message exchange. The Integration Directory and Integration Server that are also available with SAP NetWeaver PI, enable you to configure and to run your business process in your individual system landscape.

Hi Ravi Kumar,

The main difference between 3.0 and 7.0 is the GUI in SLD. But, it is pretty easy to adopt. All other components, e.g. IR, ID, RWB, should virtually be identical.

XI 3.0 is a part of Nw2004 and PI 7.0 ( Process Integration) is a part of NW2004s. Apart from the name change both provide the same features and every SP release of PI has a corresponding release of XI 7.0

For eg SP 17 corresponds to SPS07 for PI...18 for 08 and so on also contain

PI & 7.0 has some SCM contents not available from 3.0

For new features of PI7.0-

check :

and this

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/fb4cd3207c7063e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm

For new features of PI 7.1 with respect to Webservice standards check

Also features like Message packaging are articulated in

hi,

The main difference between 3.0 and 7.0 is the GUI in SLD. But, it is pretty easy to adopt. All other components, e.g. IR, ID, RWB, should virtually be identical.

XI 3.0

1. J2Se adapter engine was replaced with J2EE Adapter Engine.

2. BPM was available from XI 3.0

3. Part of Netweaver 2004

PI 7.0

1XI renames as Process Integration

2.. Part of Netweaver 2004s.

3. Has all features of XI 3.0 and every SP of Pi 7.0 has a corresponding release for XI 3.0.

4. Runs on WAS 7.0 and has same features as XI 3,0

From functional point, there is no difference between XI3.0 and PI7.0. There are changes only wrt SP. For every SP release on PI7.0 a corresponding SP for XI3.0 is also released.

A comparision of the service packs in 2004 and 2004s;

in 2004 - in 2004s

SP12 & < - SP04

SP13 + 14 - SP05

SP15 - SP06

SP16 - SP07

SP17 - SP08

SP18 - SP09

Go thru these thread and will find all ur answers.

Thanks,

Vijaya.

Hi,

PI is the latest version of XI. After XI3.0 it is calling as PI7.0

It is only because of WebApplication Server version got changed. WebAS present version is 7.1 if you are using WebAS 7.1 your PI version is PI7.1.

1.All new features for XI 7.0 are almost same as for XI 3.0 at least till SPS 19.

Some differences are as follows:

u2022 Adapter Enhancements like JMS, JDBC, Oracle-JDBC and CIDX Enhancements

u2022 New Conversion Agent,

u2022 Receiver Determination Enhancements

u2022 Multi mapping

u2022 User defined enhancements

u2022 Unbounded Processes (Integration Processes).

2. One more difference is the ABAP stack (which is 7.0 and not 6.40) but from the developer point of view there is nothing new.

3. PI 7.0 = XI 7.0

4. For each SP in XI3.0 there is a corresponding SP being released for PI (XI 7.0). A comparison of the service packs in 2004 and 2004s:

In 2004 - In 2004s

SP12 & lower = SP04

SP13 + 14 = SP05

SP15 = SP06

SP16 = SP07

SP17 = SP08

SP18 = SP09

5. XI3.0 is based on WAS(web application server)6.40 - NW2004

PI7.0 is based on WAS(web application server)7.0 - NW2004's

XI 3.0

1.J2SE adapter engine replaced with J2EE Adapter engine.

2. BPM was available from XI 3.0

3. It is a Part of Netweaver 2004

PI 7.0

1XI renames as Process Integration(PI)

2. It is a Part of Netweaver 2004s.

3. Has all features of XI 3.0 and every SP of Pi 7.0 has a corresponding release for XI 3.0.

4. Runs on WAS 7.0 and has same features as XI 3,0

5.Adapter Enhancements in JMS,JDBC,.Conversion. Multimapping.. userdefined functions.

Thanks,

Hi,

Refer this thread:

PI 7.0 works on WEBDYNPRO....They are basically the same technically but when SAP launched Netweaver 2004s , to bring all objects of Netweaver 2004s in Synch with the WAS version, XI was renamed to Process Integration (PI 7.0) .

XI3.0 is based on WAS(web application server)6.40 - NW2004

PI7.0 is based on WAS(web application server)7.0 - NW2004's

Refer this blog: which will provide you complete details:
