I wanted to know if SAP recommends using WAS to serve up static HTML content(images, html) or if they recommend going with a 3rd party Web Server such as Apache HTTP server for doing the above?
I would greatly appreciate if the people here give their thoughts / experience about this.
Thanks a ton in advance !!
I feel that using 3rd party web server is better in an actual enterprise environment. First, separating the static contents and dynamic content should be help for the performance of WAS. And in some special situation, if you install WAS in unix platform using non-root user, you will meet the trouble to open port 80 (only root user can open the port below 1024). Then the soluation should be using 3rd party web server.

Hi Manish,
despite the fact being no SAP internal i would like to point out, that the WAS is (among alot of other things) a fully featured Web Server and, from my point of view, there's definitely no need to use a 3rd party server for static Web content.
Hope that helps.
Regards
Stefan
