Replacing XI with other technology

Hi,

I am exposer to XI. I need to know Where exactly use XI and what kind of projects we will expect in XI. Is there any Replacement or Compitator for XI In real time what kind of work its have.

Hi,

XI is Integration tool to connect to Different Environments. Exchange information from different kind of souces (filesystem,MessagingSystem, Webservices, Jdbc) to other targets. We have many tools are there for that purpose.

1.Tibco

2.Gentron

3.SAP-XI

4.WebMethods.

In all technologies there exist adapters to conver different formats into xml. SAP-XI is product of sap for integration.

If source or target is SAP better to use XI suggested by SAP AG.

Hi,

SAP XI is a middleware tool. Its main purpose is to integrate the different moduls and functions within SAP and outside SAP into one single umbrella. That is, it works as a messaging backbone to SAP and thirt party systems. example. Suppose i have an IDOc and i want to send that information to third party or anywhere else. For this purpose, to take data from IDoc , to map it with some values, to determine the receiver and other things we use XI. Here XI is working a middleware which connects with SAP system to take data from SAP and send it to third party.

XI is a replacement/competitor of older EAI tools like Tibco, webmethod, mercator etc. But, all tools have their own benefits and disadvantages.

XI is a middle ware which sits in between two or more different softwares/systems to exchange the data (in form of messages) in their respective format. XI helps them send/receive the data in their respective formats.

XI.. MQ series...Tibco ... etc are all data exchange architectures. So they are all same.

And these needs to be installed according to requirement of the existing SLD systems. So EAI tool (XI/TIBCO/MQ/WEBMETHODS) installation depends on existing SLD systems.
